Primarily for the convenience of yard based owners, Hayling Marine (Services) operates a successful brokerage operation giving full exposure to listed boats via both the internet and traditional media.

Advantages for the owner include:

• We will tend to have a more detailed knowledge of the boat and will be able to talk enthusiastically about it to prospective buyers.
  
  
• By handling a smaller number of boats at any one time we are able to give each boat greater individual prominence than is possible where hundreds of listed boats are competing to take their turn in a small amount of advertising space.
  
  
• With over forty years experience of small craft we aim to provide useful advice when placing the boat on the market with a view to achieving an early sale at the best possible price. Our access to a database of SOLD prices can greatly assist in this. Similarly, we are often able to guide less experienced buyers to purchase a type of craft they might not previously have considered.
  
  
• By arranging and conducting all viewings (either ashore or afloat) we can save the owner a great deal of (often wasted) time.
  
  
• An experienced negotiator can often achieve a better price through careful questioning and judgement of the seriousness of the buyer while both buyer and seller often prefer to have an intermediary rather than cause possible offence!
  
  
• Once the survey stage has been reached we are often able to assist by providing additional information on the boat or equipment which may prevent (often detrimental and sometimes erroneous) comments being committed to paper. Following survey the purchaser may need help in interpreting the survey itself and evaluating any work that is essential – this is part of our job.
  
  
• Finally the correct paperwork for transfer of ownership is taken care of subject to sufficient funds having been received into our separate Clients Account, the proceeds then being forwarded along with a complete Statement of Account.

Our rates are competitive rather than cheap but our commission does not currently attract VAT.
